A Day Without Suns

Roughly said, a million
Stars explode each day.
I admit, “a million” is an arbitrary
Number, but who is to say it
Is not so? Facts are limited
By present information.
Furthermore, are we even
Talking about days on Earth–
24 hours? What about Venus
Or Mercury days? Regardless,
The fact remains that it
Would take me longer than a day,
Earth or otherwise, to sit on the edge
Of the Milky Way and count
The stars that implode
Before the next day begins.
