Tis The Season

I forgot the turkey died yesterday
After being smashed in the head
By a pumpkin. I expect a noose
Of holly vine to wrap around my neck
This month. A peppermint stick smoking
Fat man in a jolly red suit stands by
As executor, waiting for a signal to flash
Upon his reindeer’s nose–his indication
To kill the old year and make way for the new.
