Poetry Lives

Do not forget: the poem
must be written. But first
the poem must be lived.
It must be infused with life
assembled from experience,
information, and imagination;
a sort of Frankenstein’s monster
comprised of discarded thoughts,
emotions. The words come last.
They are least important, anyway,
compared to the paramount task
of resurrecting long-gone memories.
